I use a Canon EOS Rebel XSI D-SLR Camera and shoot in natural light.

I alternate between three lenses:

  • Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens
  • Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens
  • Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens

Photography books that I recommend:

  • Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson
  • The Photographer’s Eye by Michael Freeman
  • And of course, your own personal camera manual!

The best way to learn is just to play around with your camera, and take photos of everything. Experiment with different depth of fields (how much you want in focus), different settings, different subjects, and various lighting.

Learn about Aperture, Exposure, and ISO – the photographer’s triangle. Discover the different shutter speeds – know that a fast shutter speed will freeze motion, and a slow shutter speed will create a blur/dreamy effect. Be daring and use the manual setting on your camera, you’ll be surprised at how much better your photos will turn out.

Most importantly, get creative and have fun with it!
